The “ PWM Switch ” concept included in mode transitioning

چکیده
Vatché Vorpérian, from the Jet Propulsory Laboratory (Passadena, CA), introduced his PWM Switch model concept in the 90’s. At that time, he derived an invariant three-terminal model that could be inserted in any converter featuring a power switch and a diode. Thanks to his approach, solving ac transfer functions of complex converters became easier, compared to the former State-Space Averaging technique (SSA). Based on his original work dedicated to current-mode control (CM) and voltagemode control (VM), several SPICE models have been constructed. In the VM domain, for instance, Vorpérian adopted two different configurations to derive his Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) models. SPICE subcircuits built on these two different models, were forced to use mode switches that complicated the implementation and seriously hampered the converge friendliness. Also, in current-mode control, Vorpérian never published the DCM case. This paper will first quickly introduce the PWM Switch model to further derive two novel simple auto-toggling VM and CM models.

Linear AC power supplies can be replaced by their nonlinear switching counterparts due to the lower voltage drops and higher efficiency and power density of switching-mode inverters. Multilevel cascaded H-bridge (CHB) converters are the preferred inverter structure because of modular configuration, control, and protection. The output voltage quality in CHB converters depends on the number of ou...

The single-phase transformerless grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems, mainly the low-power single-phase systems, require high efficiency, small size, lightweight, and low-cost grid-connected inverters. However, problems such as leakage current, the DC current injection and safety issues are incorporated with transformerless grid-connected PV inverters. Besides, the new standards such as Lo...

This paper proposes a new zero-current-switching (ZCS) pulsewidth modulation (PWM) switch cell that has no additional conduction loss of the main switch. In this cell, the main switch and the auxiliary switch turn on and turn off under zero-current condition. The diodes commutate softly and the reverse-recovery problems are alleviated. The conduction loss and the current stress of the main swit...
